John Birch!?!?!

Heyyyy everyone!! I hope everyone had a good week and happy new year!!!! Happy 2023, crazyyy!!! This week was wild so imma give some highlights!

 

 

Said goodbye to Mount pleasant and all my favorite people! Including Sister Blackburn and my lit district. I am so grateful for Sister Blackburn and all that she taught me!!! I literally love her so much and miss her already! I'm also so grateful for my district and all that I was able to learn from them! They are the best missionaries in the mish fr. Literally so sad I am still down bad haha. 

 

 

Buttt now I am in west Des Moines (shoutout to the west side yuhh) with Sister Waite!! She is from Houston Texas! She is literally the cutest and sweetest human ever!!! And we're literally already besties! She also likes Costa Vida more than Cafe Rio so she's valid 

 

 

Okayy now some highlights:

 

 

- we oymed a frat house of 40 year old + men and I've never felt more scared in my whole life haha  

- we helped move this recent convert! let's just say I don't know how we survived. You could not even see the floor. I picked up used q tips.

- we're teaching this dude named Michael and he doesn't have a phone and the door to the appt building is always locked. so, we threw snowballs at his window but he let us in! don't worry I kobe'd that crap 

- we had exchanges on Friday and I was with Sister le tendre!! we grinded 6 packing (neighbor knocking) the whole night. we found some pretty dope people and one of the people we found only spoke Spanish. thought my 4 years of spanish class would pay off but I guess skipping every other time didn't do me any good, jkjk but, whipped out the google translate and he said we could come back! came back the next day with the spanish elders and he didn't answer. we walk out and this lady stops us as we're walking to our car. she says "you don't look like your from around here", all 4 of us freeze and so it goes so awkwardly silent (you know how much i hate awkward silence) so I ask if she wants to hear a message and she tells us yes and that she has a lot of questions. she says "why does God give us free will if he already knows what we're going to do with it." we teach her the plan of salvation and she starts bawling. completely opens up to us about a lot of really personal things. tells us that we gave her hope and peace that she has been searching for but hasn't been able to find. then she proceeds to tell us that she saw us walk into the apartment complex (where we were going to knock on the spanish dudes door) and God kept telling her to walk outside and wait for us so she did. so many tiny little miracles. this lady felt the spirit. I know it. 

- last night we were 6 packing a less active. back story, we like to hit people with a random name of someone we're looking for so it's a lot less creepy.  we knock and last second I tell sister waite we're gonna use the name John. the door opens and sister waite goes "hey we're looking for a john?" the little kid goes "john birch!?!?" so the dad walks over to the door and goes "yes, I'm john birch?" I don't know how I held it together. sister waite goes "awesome! well we saw that you met with missionaries in the past and wondered if you want to meet with us again?" he goes "I did!?? well yeah I probably did and I just don't remember" then tells us that we could come back next week and share a message. I have never laughed so hard. shoutout to my dawg john birch! 

 

 

Spiritual thought: 

16 ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

 

 

I know we hear these 2 verses all the time. But they will forever be some of my favorites! I am so grateful for my heavenly father and Jesus Christ and for all that they did for me! I can't imagine what it would be like to give up your son to atone for the sins of the world. I know one day when I have kids the last thing I would ever want to do is give one of them up. I know my parents feel the exact same way about me. What a sacrifice they made for us so that we can be SAVED!!! 

As you go into this new year please take a second and think about what Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ did for you!! It will change your life tremendously.

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you all had the best week/Thanksgiving. Here are some highlights of my week. Okay, so flashback to a couple of weeks ago when I was serving in Indianola. Sister Hopkins and I went to visit a referral who said she wasn't interested. We noticed a dude sitting on his porch, so we went to walk over, but he was gone, and there was a big pit bull barking at us and running across the deck. We decided to knock on the house next door.
