You Know What I'm Sayin?

"When faced with unfairness, we can push ourselves away from God or we can be drawn toward Him for help and support. For example, the prolonged warfare between the Nephites and the Lamanites affected people differently. Mormon observed that “many had become hardened” while others “were softened because of their afflictions, insomuch that they did humble themselves before God.”   "Do not let unfairness harden you or corrode your faith in God. Instead, ask God for help. Increase your appreciation for and reliance on the Savior. Rather than becoming bitter, let Him help you become better. Allow Him to help you persevere, to let your afflictions be “swallowed up in the joy of Christ.” Join Him in His mission “to heal the brokenhearted,” strive to mitigate unfairness, and become a stonecatcher."    This week we helped Michael and Roxann pack up what little stuff they have as they are being evicted out of their crappy beat down apartment.    A common question I have g...

I Will Go And Do

Image
Yooo!! This week was good!! Nothing too crazy happened this week so I'll just give some highlights!    On Valentine's day we heart attacked Michael, Roxanne and Tanja! It was so fun!!! Then for dinner, me and Sister Waite went to the cheesecake factory! It was so fun!!    We finally got in to contact with Murphy, the lady we found a couple weeks ago who walked outside and saw us as we were going to see someone else. We had a super good lesson with her! She hit us with some deep questions so I've been studying those the past couple days! Anyways she keeps begging me and sister Waite to get pepper spray because apparently that apt complex is a hot spot for gangs. They're recruiting 12 year olds and they're walking around holding guns to people and taking their phones and wallets. So, she gave us both pepper spray!    Gary smoked us a whole rack of ribs to take home!    Went to a Spanish baptism on Saturday! I understood about none of it hahah but it...

Crush The Habit

Supp everyone!!! Happy valentines day!!! I hope everyone is doing well! I love and miss you all.  I'm gonna give some highlights from this week!!   To start off I totally forgot to mention but last week we got transfer news. Me and Sister Waite are staying together and staying in West Des Moines!!! I am so excited because this is my first transfer that nothing crazy has happened for me and we have a lot of big plans for this area this transfer, so let's goooo!!!    - We had a super cool lesson with our friend Kyle. We taught the 3rd lesson (gojc) and we felt prompted to ask him to be baptized, so we did. Well he lives with his grandma and she's a devoted catholic that says everyone should just love everyone no matter their religion. But, she intercepted and said he needs to learn more. We boldly asked him what he thinks about it and he said he wants to be baptized. She said no to him and that he needs to keep learning more. Pray for her heart to be softened so maybe ...

6 Months

Image
6 months. Wow, I cannot believe I have been a missionary for 6 months! I truly cannot believe I am even on a mission. Everyday I just think wow I really am out in Iowa on a mission. It's so crazy. I have looked back to high school Kim. I am so grateful for all the good, bad and in-between things I went through in high school and after. It is what led me to where I am today. Without my mission I would be the same old Kim I always was, although I wasn't bad (at least I think) I know I am becoming a better version of myself and my mission has completely changed my life in more ways than I could've imagined. Nor did I ever think it was possible. Although I don't have a perfect knowledge of the Book of Mormon or have every story in the Book of Mormon memorized, I have come to know that that book is true and it is a gift given to us from God! I have seen the atonement change so many lives and I have come to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love each and EVERY ONE of...
