Crush The Habit
Supp everyone!!! Happy valentines day!!! I hope everyone is doing well! I love and miss you all. I'm gonna give some highlights from this week!!
To start off I totally forgot to mention but last week we got transfer news. Me and Sister Waite are staying together and staying in West Des Moines!!! I am so excited because this is my first transfer that nothing crazy has happened for me and we have a lot of big plans for this area this transfer, so let's goooo!!!
- We had a super cool lesson with our friend Kyle. We taught the 3rd lesson (gojc) and we felt prompted to ask him to be baptized, so we did. Well he lives with his grandma and she's a devoted catholic that says everyone should just love everyone no matter their religion. But, she intercepted and said he needs to learn more. We boldly asked him what he thinks about it and he said he wants to be baptized. She said no to him and that he needs to keep learning more. Pray for her heart to be softened so maybe one day we can teach her too!
- Then we went to visit Tanja. We walk in and it smells like cats to the extreme, and we sit down on the couch. All we hear is her ranting to us about taxes (which completely went in one ear and out the other for me), meanwhile she's chopping something in the kitchen. So instead of being in separate rooms we decided to go to the kitchen to talk to her. She was cutting peppers and jalapeños directly on the table making salsa. We asked what she did for work and she said she is a doctor. I knew it was cap. But went along with it, and honestly asked so many questions to see how far she would go haha. The next thing she told us was that she went to LSU and fought Drake, which got her kicked out because he was the son of the dean of the school. Then she told us that she took the test to get into John Hopkins and she went to school there. Apparently she owns a restaurant in California called Tanja's that makes Mediterranean food and she has beef with Gordon Ramsey who tried to steal her recipes. oh and to top it off she owns a boutique- but don't worry it's not as good as Tiffany's. Then we finally got to the lesson!!! We taught about the Priesthood, and why we have be baptized under the correct authority because last week in our lesson she said she's already been baptized.
- We had a cool lesson with another one of our investigators. He came to church last Sunday and announced to the Sunday school class that he was in prison a couple years ago. a lot of people came up to us after and were freaking out that we are unsafe, but don't worry we're good. so, in our lesson he told us why he went to prison without us even having to ask. He sobbed the entire time. his mom died, his wife left him, he got laid off, all in the same week so he turned to drugs. started selling drugs and got arrested. He told us that in prison was when he came to know God. he opened up a Bible for the first time and read every single day in prison. His 65 year sentence turned into 3 years because of good behavior. and honestly I believe it's because of God and reading the Bible every single day.
- We did the stop smoking workshop with Gary! He is sooo cool and wants to change! We then pulled up at Michael and Roxannes and did the stop smoking workshop with them as well. part of it is you have them crush up their cigarettes because it's "crushing the habit"! so we had Micheal do that! Roxanne was yelling "no Michael!!!" "It's okay, it's fine. we can buy some more tomorrow from Walgreens" we told her that she is now banned from going to Walgreens. Roxanne lovessss apple juice and coincidentally I am currently on an apple juice kick. So I told Roxanne that she can still have apple juice and she said "okay that's good!" so I think we're chillin.
But pray for Michael and Gary this week!!!
- The swahili sisters are also teaching me a little bit of swahili so that's kinda lit! I know about one word rn so let's goo.
Spiritual thought:
Romans 8
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I have seen it all on my mission. NOTHING can separate us from the love of God.
I know this is true! I have immediately felt so much love as I walk into people's homes despite what they go through or the bad decisions they have made.
Because I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love each and every single one of us despite the things we do or the choices we make. Nothing we do or say can separate us from the love God has for each of us.
How lucky are we!!??
DON'T FORGET THAT!!!
Nakupenda!

Also we got invited to a members house to watch the super bowl and luckily our zone leaders and dope and gave us approval. Basically everyone wanted Kansas City to win since it's so close to here so it was a bit awkward that I was like the only one going for the eagles! so big rip they lost
Slso s/o to Vivint Arena. the NBA all star game is there this weekend which is kinda fire!
