We Survived/General Conference!!!

Yoo everyone!!!! What's good!? This week was literally insane so imma try and keep things somewhat short but we will see how this goes haha. there's a lot to say

Monday: had pday with the district at the church! We played some pickle ball and I figured out that I'm lowkey cracked! What can I say?

Tuesday: had MLC (mission leadership council) on zoom! It was super uplifting and honestly it was so cool hearing a lot of things that were shared! grateful to be a part of it, I can already see how it's helping me become a better missionary!! Then, we had exchanges! I was runnin it back with Sister Waite!!! It was super fun to be with her again! now we've served in two different states together let's gooo!!!

We also were fed lasagna twice this week so add that to spaghetti. It's all the same

Wednesday: every Wednesday we go to lunch with a group of old ladies! We call it "gals lunch" and it is literally my favorite thing ever!!! We had a super cool lesson with Blake at the church with 2 members! We taught GoJc (gospel of Jesus christ) and talked a lot about baptism! We invited him to pray about a date to set for baptism! He should be on date here soon!!

Thursday: we had to drive to Burlington, IA to get a new car! Of course me and Sis Otto had to pull up at the bdubs in Burlington. OG times! It was fun being back for a sec where I first started my mission!!

Also, our recent convert Madi who is 11 and was baptized in December we are currently teaching her mom and dad! This lady used to have 40 animals. Bruh. She has now narrowed it down to like 20 something. While I was there I saw 4 cats, 3 dogs, 6 mice, and all the sudden I look down and I'm like "Carissa what is that animal" she goes "oh that's my ferret Archie" AIN'T NO WAY SHE'S LETTING THAT THING ROME AROUND THE HOUSE! But she is!! It honestly tho, in her defense, isn't that bad. It does attack the dogs and cats which have me dead but it kept me very entertained!

Friday: we survived a tornado! literally, this whole week, people were telling us the weather was gonna be wild. Me and Sis Otto were out here like nah they playin! We were humbled to say the least. We got a text Thursday morning from Pres telling us to go straight home after district council and that we couldn't go out the rest of the day. So we went to district council then as we were driving home the weather went from sunny and warm to the darkest clouds I swear I've ever seen. Right as we pulled onto the freeway it started absolutely pouring like I've never seen before. I couldn't see a dang thing. I had 2 options, pull over and get hit or just keep going. So I kept going, literally laughing and crying at this point because I literally could not see. We finally got off the freeway and the rain stopped. We were looking out the windows and people were pulled over left and right. it was literally a movie! Anyways, we made it home in time for the sirens to go off so we hid in the closet cuz that's what we were told to do! Turns out, no tornado in our area (that we know of haha) but apparently there was one an hour from us that did severe damage. Pretty crazy!! I'll just say I'll stick to Utah where I don't have to worry about dying from a tornado.

Saturday- Sunday: General Conference LETS GOO!!! Literally Conference as a missionary is unreal. Someone described it this week as "the super bowl" and he's spitting straight facts. I love more than anything getting to hear from our living prophet and his apostles. It is sooo spiritually uplifting!!

Spiritual thought:

There's too much good I want to share from conference so I'm just going to put some of my favorite quotes!

"We cannot stand as witnesses of Jesus Christ until we can bear record of him"

- Gary E. Stevenson

"Look for Christ everywhere!"

"Every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Christ"

- Bonnie H. Cordon

"He is good because he goes about doing good"

- Gerrit W. Gong

"Those that follow Him can have access to His healing and atoning power!"

- Peter F. Meurs

"People who trust/follow the gospel of Jesus Christ, endure to the end"

- Evan A. Schmutz

"The disciples of Jesus Christ are peacemakers"

"The pure love of christ is the answer to contention today"

- President Russell M. Nelson

"Perfection is not the same as being perfected in Jesus Christ"

- Vern P. Stanfill

"The savior expects us to do all that we can do and he promises that he will do whatever only he can do."

- W. Mark Bassett

It's all because of him. As our loving Savior always says, "follow me". May we all follow Him and do what he would have us do! think of him and remember him as we go into this Easter week!

I love my mission. I love this gospel. I love these people. and I LOVE my savior. It's all because of him, and for that I am forever grateful

Love you all,

Sister Liljenquist <3
