"When We Gettin A Diet Coke"
Hey to all of my favorite people!!! It's transfer week, so that's why you're getting an email from me today. I know what you're thinking..."It's transfer week already?" Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. I swear I was with Sister Kinghorn just yesterday!!! Time is hauling.
I'm stealing this from Sister McMullins email:
"The weeks are going too fast. I feel like I'm standing on the outside of a train, at the front, with my back to it pushing against it trying to get it to slow down, and it's just going zooommmmmm."
This is exactly how I feel. But let me tell you about my week!!!
I got to go on my "sprint trip." Sprint trip is where our mission president takes us to Nauvoo to do an endowment session, go to the shops, and go to Carthage Jail right before our last transfer to motivate us to sprint to the end!!
Easily one of the best days in my entire mission... actually my entire life!!! There's nothing better than spending time in one of your favorite places in the whole world with some of your favorite people in the whole world! Nauvoo holds the most special place in my heart and will forever. I was so overcome with emotions on that day but mainly full of gratitude. Gratitude for my mission, the missionaries I've met, my mission leaders, the saints and their sacrifice, Joseph and Hyrum, but most importantly my Heavenly Father and my Savior.
I felt nothing but joy and gratitude as I sat there in Carthage Jail knowing that Joseph and Hyrum sacrificed their lives for their conviction to the gospel of Jesus Christ. They paved the way so that you and I can read The Book of Mormon to know who our Savior Jesus Christ is and his love for us.
I can't help but feel grateful for the love I have felt from my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I'm grateful for the temple and its sacredness and the love I feel from them while I'm in there.
I'm also grateful for my ancestors who were a part of the saints who so lovingly and faithfully made sacrifices because of their testimony. I'm grateful that I was able to study more about them and who they were because of the information my grandma gave me. I felt close to them in Nauvoo.
Okay, sorry, now I want to share a story:
Sunday during sacrament, a member texts us and tells us a lady is here for her first time. Next thing we know, she stands up, walks up to the pulpit, and bears her testimony. She said, "I don't know why I am here. I came to buy a picture." The spirit was so strong. I was sitting there praying that the spirit would touch her heart and that the testimonies would be exactly what she needed to hear. They couldn't have been more perfect.
The second the prayer ended, she stood up and started walking out, but Sis Kinghorn and I sprinted to her. We introduced ourselves and explained what we do. She told us she was not from Waukee and that she "isn't Mormon and isn't interested in becoming one," but she told us she loved the meeting with tears in her eyes.
I know she felt something different. And I know she felt the spirit.
I'm so grateful that the Lord led her to not just any church that day, but His!
I love you all!!!
Light The World this Christmas season!! Remember the true meaning of Christmas!
I love my Savior Jesus Christ!!!
This is the best mission in the entire world. My heart is so full!!!!!!
Love, Sister Liljenquist
Here are some quotes:
*Members telling us about their honeymoon, about how they were in the Virgin Islands during Hurricane Irma.
Us: *Can't stop laughing.
*Me talking about how I get hamburger ketchup only at In-N-Out.
"Ketchup only!? What are you? Four?"
-Elder Vetter.
*Pulls out of Carthage.
Sis Shill: "Okay, when are we going to get a diet coke?"
Elder Shill: "Right now."
*Pulls up to Casey's, of course.
Sis Colson: "Ooo, what should I get?"
Sis Shill: "Anything you want... sugar daddy Shill's got it."
*Casey's just needs to sponsor my mission leaders.
Sis Shill: "Ask Elder Shill what his favorite show is."
Us: "What is it?"
Sis Shill: "Naked and Afraid."
Elder Shill: "I do really like Naked and Afraid."
